Real estate in Dubai: Meet “The French” expert, Camelia Savoye from District Real Estate!

How long in Dubai? And in real estate?

After living in Barcelona, I moved to Dubai in 2014 with my family. My real estate career started in 2007 in Prague, Czech Republic.

Tell us about your activity (or that of the agency) in a few lines… What is your “specialty”?

Our agency specializes in off-plan sales as well as resale (secondary market) and rental (long term) of real estate in Dubai. We also offer a property management service which is mainly aimed at clients who live abroad and who entrust us with their portfolio.
We not only help our clients find their “dream house” but we also support them in their administrative procedures. We have partnerships with professionals in the banking sector. We can put them in contact with the local administration in order to obtain a power of attorney from the Public Notary, etc.

Before being in real estate, did you have another activity? If so, what caused the click to change lanes?
Prior to working in real estate, I trained in hospitality sales and marketing. I worked for the Accor Group in Bucharest and New York City where I learned the fundamental importance of understanding what customers are looking for and responding precisely to their needs.
The click happened in Prague where I got into a field quite close to the hotel industry, service, when I was contacted by a French real estate agency who was looking for a real estate agent who spoke fluent French.

What is the most frequent search of your customers?

Our clients are investors who regularly enrich their portfolio, always looking for interesting deals, especially in “prime” areas such as Dubai Marina, JBR, Bluewaters, Palm Jumeirah, etc. We have recently noticed an increasing demand for off-plan properties in the Dubai Creek Harbor area as well.

These investors are looking for an acceptable return on investment while waiting for the right moment to sell their property because Dubai is a cyclical market.

What are your favorite neighborhoods (or cities/countries)?

I would say that we rather focus on high quality real estate projects throughout Dubai to ensure that our clients are happy with their investments. We prefer to offer properties in “prime” areas that can be rented or resold very quickly, taking into account their location and the reputation of the property developer. We are always attentive to the needs of our clients and we advise them on the properties that best suit their family situation and their way of life, etc.

What is your trademark? The little thing you think you do differently than other agents/experts in your field.

I just opened my own company, District Real Estate in 2018 to make a difference in the real estate market in Dubai. First of all, we are passionate about our work. We want to ensure that all of our clients have a unique and memorable experience when they use our services.

We have experience, integrity, expertise and all the necessary tools, such as official reports on current market prices, transaction statistics by area in the Emirate, etc. This is so that customers can make well-calculated and certain decisions. We create and maintain trusting professional relationships for a long-term relationship.

What is your source of motivation each day?

I believe that it is the passion to help a large number of people and to bring something positive in their lives because investing in real estate presents a risk, and our mission and to support our customers on the whole from the virtuous cycle that starts from a purchase made at the right price, to the resale which becomes the materialization of the added value.
This profession is a source of inspiration that pushes me to get out of my comfort zone and to continue to develop myself personally. It is a way to put my own values into practice, to bring my personal touch to interpersonal relationships, to understand the psychology of each other and to learn to adapt to different cultures and various situations.

What are the challenges/difficulties/facilities of the real estate market in Dubai (or other city)? What do you find “difficult” in your day-to-day job?

Dubai is a very dynamic market, so you always have to adapt very quickly to changes and anticipate trends. The facility of the Dubai market consists of a very well organized administrative system, increasingly digitized where customers can make investments in complete transparency and security. This while being well accompanied and advised by trained and competent agents.

If you had two “immo” tips to give to our readers?

As mentioned, I would advise hiring specialist and expert real estate agents in their neighborhoods and doing their “due diligence” before making such an important decision. In Dubai, the golden rule is not only the location, but also the reputation of the property developer.

And two good addresses?

For any inquiries related to real estate, I would advise to contact us.

For dinner, I recommend Chic Nonna in DIFC and the Isola restaurant in Jumeirah Islands for a lunch with friends on Saturday afternoon.

Future projects?

We would like to open a “short term” rental department given the ever-increasing demand.
